Elvis Duck

May 15th, 2008 by Lisa

Elvis may well have left the building, but if this avian version is anything to go by, he certainly won’t have taken the stairs. Pop this super-cool, Elvis-styled rubber duck in the bath and the sensors on his base will trigger flashing, colour phasing lights. Complete with black quiff, white aviator shades and a white collared get-up, the slick Elvis Duck does justice to the musical legend. Croon away to the Elvis classics in the comfort of your own bathroom. Don’t say we didn’t warn you, we can see some mallard inspired versions of “You ain’t nothing but a Hound Duck” coming on.

Kiss Me Phone

May 15th, 2008 by Lisa

Hard-wired phones seem to have moved from essential to retro in virtually no time at all, and this landline phone cleverly disguised as a sexy pair of lips is no exception - indeed it’s more of an objet d’art than a phone. Nevertheless it’s still irresistible. Whether you’re a lothario or a vamp, or just into retro kitsch, the Kiss Me Phone is a piece of kit that pushes all the buttons, in a manner of speaking. It comes with UK and European telephone cables, has a push button operation concealed in the top lip, and is just crying out for some hushed, wicked and no doubt lascivious conversation.

Retro Telephones

May 15th, 2008 by Lisa

A telephone classic is re-born! Made from the original case mouldings that were supplied by BT back in the seventies, these rotary dial Retro Telephones are the real deal and come supplied ready for use with modern telephone cables and sockets.

Complete with that fabulous click and whirr dialling action and the classic big hollow bell ring tone (not digital by the way, it’s the real thing), the phones are available in their original Pillar Box Red, Ivory and Black colours, and have exactly the same satisfyingly chunky weight and feel as those old friends from the seventies. The 70’s may have produced some truly terrible music and very questionable haircuts, but the phones were fabulous!

Underwater Light Show

May 15th, 2008 by Lisa

Pimp up your bath with the ultimate in ‘hot’ tub accessories. The Underwater Light Show is, admittedly, just a little bit bling, but we can forgive it that as it transforms your bath, at the flick of a switch, into a raving disco dance floor - and why oh why wouldn’t you want that in your bathroom! Of course if you’d rather have a more sedate soak, then you can chose the more seductive slow pulsing mode. There are five lighting effects in all, from a fast random colour changing light show that’s all very Night Fever, through a flashing single colour, slow seductive phasing through all four colours, constant single colour and finally a sequence of all the effects back to back. It looks a little bit like the rose off a watering can, but is of course considerably more fun and funky.

Humphry the Mini Humping Dog

May 15th, 2008 by Lisa

Who on earth thought “I know, let’s make a stuffed Chihuahua that you strap to your leg and that humps frantically while yapping away in frenzied delight?” Where did that come from? We can only sit back in awe at the thought process, and slowly begin to understand how the truly great inventors of our age spend their free time.

Mini Drum Kit

May 15th, 2008 by Lisa

There’s nothing worse than being around someone who incessantly taps on their desk as if somehow this makes them the next Keith Moon, and really how much of a tune can be bashed out on a plastic or wooden desk? The Mini Drum Kit is here to save us (and quite possibly infuriate others). Wannabe drummers will be in seventh heaven with this stupid but highly addictive touch-sensitive mini drum kit. At only 17cm across it includes a large and small tom tom, a bass drum (with its own working foot pedal!), a snare drum and cymbal - with a pointless little light on it. You can thrash out your own drum solo, record it, play the annoying and yet strangely satisfying demo, and even record your own beats when you’ve become adept enough.

Big Maoi Tissue Dispenser

May 15th, 2008 by Lisa

How the mighty have fallen, and in doing so had us rolling on the floor laughing our heads off. Tissue Box holders are traditionally ghastly, designed, it would appear, by people with the aesthetic sensibilities of a Halibut. We would normally condone the ritual incineration of the things, but this one is quite definitely a wonder of the world.

Inflatable Horse and Cowboy

May 15th, 2008 by Lisa

One of the drawbacks of modern urban living is that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find somewhere to keep your horse. Very few bars nowadays have anywhere set aside to tie it up, and criminal as it may sound, troughs are virtually extinct. What is the world coming to? Luckily we have a solution, firstly get rid of your horse, what were you thinking? Secondly, get hold of this absurd and wildly entertaining inflatable horse costume. More stupid than a skateboarding mongoose and a lot easier to control, the suit comes with its own internal fan, so you simply don a Butch Cassidy type hat (make sure it’s not a David Cassidy hat, that would be, well, just stupid), step into the suit and inflate.

Stylophone

May 15th, 2008 by Lisa

Back in the Cretaceous Period (or was it the 70’s), when calculators were the size of small cars and an auto pop-up toaster was considered hi-tech, some geek sandwiched two circuit-boards together, chucked in some random wiring, and gave birth to a musical (sic) instrument that was to become an icon. After nearly 40 years in the closet, the Stylophone pocket synthesiser made popular by the likes of Rolph Harris and David Bowie (he used it in timeless classic Space Oddity) is back. You tap the electronic keys with the integral stylus to make funky noises - now with additional Classic, Synth and Bass sounds, - and maybe you can produce some musical hits using this retro kit as the likes of Kraftwerk, Erasure, Orbital, Marilyn Manson, They Might Be Giants, and White Stripes have done in the past.

Ball and Chain Keyrings

May 15th, 2008 by Lisa

These wry little key rings, complete with a weighty Ball and Chain and a neat handcuff locking mechanism, are a daily reminder that you’re well and truly attached.

Getting your keys and assorted key chain paraphernalia on and off them is much easier than with those irritating split ring jobbies, as the handcuff clip snaps open and shut securely at the click of a subtle little switch. If only it was that easy to attach and un-attach yourself to people?
